To the Warm Springs Little League (WSLL) Community,
First and foremost, we hope that you and your loved ones continue to stay safe. In July, we communicated that the board would make a final go/no-go decision on the possibilities of a baseball season in 2020. Given the current realities of COVID-19 and FUSD’s decision to start school via distance learning, the board has decided to cancel baseball for the 2020 season, including fall baseball. WSLL will continue to maintain our fields and facilities and look forward to getting the community back together in spring 2021.
WSLL is a non-profit organization, and even though there has been no baseball, we still require significant financial support from the community. Operating expenses include field maintenance, insurance, uniforms, and equipment used in the early part of the season. In previous years, registration fees cover only about 50% of the expenses, with the remaining coming from fundraising and other sponsorship opportunities. Given the pandemic, we have not been able to organize our fundraising this year to supplement registration fees. Thus, we are requesting that you consider donating your registration fees to WSLL so we can continue to maintain our fields and provide the best experience to the kids for the 2021 season. If you wish to donate your fees to WSLL, we will send you a tax-deductible receipt for tax purposes.
To indicate how to use your registration fees, please fill out this form for each player you have registered before Sept 30th, 2020.
The board also requests our community to understand that WSLL will need to continue maintaining our fields, so they are ready for play and practice for our communities. In addition to our labor time:
We pay for a weekly mowing and landscape service that costs $1,300 per month.
We also pay electricity bills for the water pumps, clubhouse, etc. insurance costs, and other upkeep expenditures.
Earlier this year, in anticipation of a full 2020 season, WSLL also spent over $7,000 on in-field upgrades, including five new picnic tables, a brand new water fountain near the majors’ field, a new yellow fence top, and fresh wood chips around the BBQ area.
If you choose to request a refund, the refund amount will be fees paid, minus initial setup costs incurred to start the season, such as uniform costs. Refunds will be made directly via SiPlay.
Thank you for your consideration and support to the Warm Springs Little League. If you have any questions, please email email@example.com.
